What is the deadline to register to vote?

The deadline to register to vote is 10 days prior to any election.

In 2022, the primary election is May 10, 2022. The registration deadlines are:

April 22, 2022 - The postmark deadline for mailed-in registrations for the primary.

April 22, 2022 - The last day for voter registration done at the Department of Motor Vehicles or online. The last day for deputy registrars to register voters at community voter registration events.

6 p.m., May 2, 2022 - The last day for in person voter registration for the primary.

In 2022, the general election is November 8, 2022. The registration deadlines are:

October 21, 2022 - The last day for voter registration done at the Department of Motor Vehicles or online. The postmark deadline for mailed-in registrations for the general. Also the last day for deputy registrars to register voters a community voter registration events.

6 p.m. October 28, 2022 - The last day for in person voter registration for the general.

Am I eligible to vote?

You are eligible to vote in Nebraska if you live in the state AND you are a citizen of the United States AND are at least 18 years old or you will be 18 by the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of this year AND you are not a felon, or you are a convicted felon with more than two years passing since completing your sentence AND you have not been officially found to be non compos mentis (mentally incompetent.)

What information is requested on the voter registration form?

You will be asked to provide your first and last name and middle initial, your date of birth, your place of birth, your Nebraska Driver's license number, the last four digits on your Social Security card, your address, and your signature. You will also be asked to select a party affiliation. Additional information you may provide includes phone number, cell number and email. The registration application also includes an eligibility oath for you to read and sign.

When do I need to fill out a voter registration form?

You need to fill out a voter registration form when you first register to vote. You need to update your registration when you have moved to a new address, changed your name (for example, after marriage or divorce) or change your party affiliation. To be eligible to vote you must register 10 days prior to the election. You may register online at https://www.nebraska.gov/apps-sos-voter-registration/

How do I apply for an Early Ballot?

To receive a ballot you must complete an Early Voting Application and return it to the Hall County Election Office, Suite 8, 121 S. Pine Street, Grand Island, NE 68801. Applications for the May 10, 2022 Primary will be available starting January 10, 2022.

Early ballot requests for the primary may be accepted beginning January 10, 2022. Early ballots will be made available April 11, 2022 and must be returned by 8:00 P.M. on May 10, 2022. The last day to vote in person on an early ballot is May 9, 2022.
